Interviewee:
1. What does debating mean to you?
Debating means arguing a point or thought with another person.
2. A day in the life of a debate member… describe it.
A day in the life of a debate member is exciting, fun, and engaging. In the
club, there’s never a dull moment when you have a debate. The members
will always support you no matter which side you are and they are friendly
as well. We don’t always have debates, but sometimes we play fun games
such as ‘Atoms’ or create fun games like pass the ball and debate whereas
when you get the ball you debate on a point and pass it to another person.
3. Is there a specific goal you aim to achieve within the debate club/team?
There is an aim I wish to achieve within the Debate Society and it is to make
the club more active in school and do more stuff that’s not just only
debating but more like advocacy. As for the debate team, my only aim is to
push them to be the best team there is.
4. You recently had a debate competition… what was the preparation for
this event like?
Well, the preparation for the competition was not easy, there were some
days when we had to skip our extracurriculars to meet and prepare, and
some days when we couldn’t meet. In the end, we had Google Meets to
accommodate everyone and there we wrote our speeches and rehearsed
them.
5. Anything you would like to say to your current and future members of the
club?
I would like to say to my current members to keep on pushing the club and
build it to be the best version of itself and to my future members of the
club, I hope you may still continue to build the club.
