1. What inspired you to create the Prom Committee?

I attended my first prom last year March and absolutely adored the organization and the vibe of the entire event. I instantly thought that DC could pull something like this off especially since our seniors had dwindling school spirit and were already constantly complaining about our lack of engaging activities. However, I knew that I couldn’t pull it off on my own nor did I want to as at the end of the day, this initiative is to cater mainly for our senior populous; I spoke to a group of persons that I believed were able to greater contribute aspects to a team where I fell short such as immense creativity and social skills for marketing.

2. What has the response to the Prom Committee been like?

We have had quite a few mixed reactions; however the good responses outweigh the doubt.

Students are excited and look forward to the event yet some are still doubtful that the event will come to fruition to the extent advertised based on past experiences.

3. How did you come up with the theme for the prom?

My wonderful team and I brainstormed a few ideas for the theme. It wasn’t easy given that

Prom is a “cliché” initiative and thus there weren’t that many unique themes that would engage students to a great extent. We had to do some market research and fortunately we found that our original theme was highly overused and so we went back to the drawing board, discussed, visualized and finally came up with “Enigma”, our Masquerade themed prom.

4. Do you think that after you leave that the prom committee will be in capable hands

so that other students after you will be able to have this experience?

I do believe that this initiative can become a tradition. I think the foundation is being set now

and with the right dedication, assistance and drive, students after me will be able to have an even better experience.
